Trojans go 4-0 in the Dome Vermilion, SD 3/19/06 – Entering the second night of action in the Dakota Dome the Trojans faced the Lancers of Mt. Marty College. The Trojans offense showed why they are ranked 4th in the nation in hits per game (10.714) as well as batting average (.394) as they pounded out a combined 28 hits and 21 runs in the doubleheader against the Lancers. In the first game every starter had at least one hit, with sophomore left fielder Alli Hubers going 3 for 4 at the plate. On the bases the Trojans were a perfect 6 for 6 and defeated the Lancers 7-2. In the circle Steph Brakel allowed 2 runs on 7 hits while striking out 4, to collect her 11th win of the season. In the second game the Trojans started out sluggish leaving 6 runners on base in the first three innings and committing two errors in the third inning allowing Mt. Marty to jump out to 5-1 lead over the Trojans. The Trojans would regroup and outscore Mt. Marty 13-2 in the final four innings to secure their 13th win of the season 14-7. In the game the Trojans were lead offensively by Allison Hubers and Lori Olen who both went 3 for 4. Allison Hubers and Amber Postma each drove in 5 runs in the game while Jessie Klingenberg added two more RBI’s. Lori Olen also led the Trojans on the base paths as she stole 4 of the teams 7 bases. In the circle Steph Brakel and Katie Albertus combined allowing 7 runs on 12 hits while striking out 4, with Albertus collecting her second win of the season. With the sweep of Mt. Marty the Trojans improved their record to 13-5 overall. The Trojans are scheduled to be in action on Thursday as they take on 2005 NAIA national tournament qualifier University of Sioux Falls on Thursday.
