Trojans Split in Arizona

Tucson, AZ 3/5/06 - The Dakota State University Softball team opened a grueling 12 game stint in Tucson AZ. today going 1-1. The Trojans opened their 7 day trip against NCAA D-III Haverford College (PA) with a 9-8 victory. In the game 4 Trojans collected at least 2 hits a piece and Junior Steph Brakel went the distance for her second win of the young season.

In the Second game of the twin bill the Trojans faced St. Mary's of the Woods College (IN). SMWC is the four time defending USCAA National Champions. The Trojans matched the offense of the defending National Champions hit for hit, totaling 9 a piece, but at the end of the day a 5 run seventh inning gave SMWC the win 5-4. In the game Allie Gilbert went 3 for 4 while Allison Hubers and Amber Postma both went 2 for 4.

The loss dropped the Trojans to 2-2 on the season. The two teams will meet again on Thursday with the first pitch set for 2:00pm.
