DSU Sweeps PC to improve to 15-5
(Aberdeen, SD March 31, 2006) –
The Dakota State University Trojan Softball team
ran its record to 15-5 today, after disposing of
instate opponent Presentation College. The
Trojans who are ranked 10th in the
latest NAIA Region III rankings pounded out 15
hits in route to a 10-2 win in the first game.
The Trojans were led offensively by Lori Olen,
Allie Gilbert, and Danielle Rosheim who each had
three hits. Steph Brakel went 6 innings allowing
4 hits while striking out 8 to earn her 12th
win of the season.
In the second game DSU pounded out
12 more hits including a triple by Allison
Hubers and a pair of doubles by Jessie
Klingenberg and Jessica VanLoy. In the circle
Katie Albertus picked up her third win of the
season allowing just 1 run on 3 hits while
striking out 3.
“Today was a good day we did a lot
of things well. We got two solid outings from
Steph and Katie, and VanLoy looked good in the
field and at the plate. We missed a few signs
today and defensively I felt we didn’t come
ready to play in the first game allowing 5
errors, so we will need to tighten things up as
we open DAC play tomorrow versus Minot State.”
Stated associate head coach Ken Prorok.
The Trojans will host Minot State at
the Thue softball complex tomorrow as the
Trojans open conference play.
