September 10, 2007

(Madison, SD) - The Dakota Athletic Conference (DAC) had announced today that Dakota State University's Chris Heezen had been named to DAC Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week.

Heezen, a senior from Miller, SD, ran a time of 26:48.72 in the Dakota Wesleyan Invitational last Saturday as he won the individual title in the 8000 meters run.  He was 25 seconds faster than last year at the DWU Invitational.  Heezen helped to lead the Trojans to a team championship tie with Hastings College.

"Chris had a great summer running over approximately 1000 miles," quoted Trojan Men's Cross Country Head Coach Buzz Stevenson.  "His conditioning showed at the Dakota Wesleyan Invitational."

Chris is the son of Jerry and Peggy Heezen of Miller, SD.  Chris is majoring in Exercise Science at Dakota State University.

The Trojans will travel to NCAA Division I South Dakota State in Brookings, SD, Saturday morning to compete in the South Dakota State Classic.  The women's race will begin at 9:20 am with the men's race starting at 9:50 am.
