Seizing South Dakota Men's Basketball
Annual Scholarship
The Seizing South
Dakota Club (SSDC), an organization
established in an effort to help bring blue chip boy's
basketball players from the state of South Dakota to Dakota
State University started this annual scholarship on January 31,
2004. This four-year award will be given to a male basketball
player from the state of South Dakota that excels in
basketball. The scholarship is being funded by the kindness and
generosity of basketball enthusiasts from around the Madison
area who are members of the SSDC.

Objective: |
Develop a
four year men's basketball scholarship to entice "Blue
Chip"
Men's Basketball players from the state of South Dakota
to attend DSU |

Why: |
1. It's an opportune time!
**SDSU and USD go to Division I,
opening the door fro DSU.
**"Blue Chip" South Dakota HS players
looking for a state university to attend.
2.
Low scholarship funding compared to all Dakota Athletic
conference schools.
3.
Bring City of Madison and surrounding communities closer
to the program.
4. Make a bang in South Dakota for DSU Basketball.

Vision: |
Raise $12,000+
per year through membership drives. SSDC Classic
games, youth tournaments, and fundraisers. |

Process: |
Re-contact
and inform 30 current member of
progress and purpose.
Increase membership from 30 to 60 members.
60 members x $150 = $9000
Continue Madison High School SSDC classic game -
additional schools on different nights
(i.e. Howard, McCook Central, Chester, etc.) |

Success: |
Our first
SSDC scholarship recipient Joe Backus has proven to be a
big success. Joe was named all-conference as a
sophomore and is leading the team and conference in
scoring and rebounding during his junior season.
Joe is also currently in the top 20 in the nation in
scoring. Joe has increased local interest and
attendance at games, adding to the fun and excitement of
watching DSU Basketball. Joe is well on his way to
All-American status!! |
Membership
Benefits:
Social Member
- $100.00 per year for the next four years
Invited to all SSDC
player/member socials to meet and have fun with the players,
coaches, and parents.
Recognition on the new DSU/Daktronics
video board located in the DSU Memorial Field House
Trojan
Member - $150.00 per year for the next four years
All
Social Member benefits, plus:
Activity Pass for all home DSU basketball games.
Assisting in the finding and recruitment of South Dakota "Blue
Chip" players.
Trojan Gold Member - $300.00 per year for the next four years
All Trojan Member benefits, plus:
Special recognition in all DSU Basketball recruiting and game
publications.
DSU/SSDC dry weave polo shirt.
Trojan
Platinum Scholarship Member - $500+ per year for the next four
years
All Trojan Gold Member benefits, plus:
DSU nylon dry weave wind breaker jacket.
Individual sponsorship and award recognition to an individual
player.
