April 3, 2006
(Madison, SD) -
Dakota State
University Head Men’s Basketball Coach Wade Kooiman is proud to announce
the signing of Brian Bolin to a letter of intent for the 2006-2007
season. “Brian can fill up every column on the stat sheet,” says
Kooiman. “He is extremely versatile, team-oriented, and his work ethic
in the classroom and on the floor is second to none. I am truly excited
to be his coach.”
As a standout at Onamia High School in Onamia, MN, where he started
every game since he was a freshman, Brian capped off his career by
averaging a team-leading 14.3ppg, 10.9rpg, 7.4bpg, 5.3apg, and 2.7spg
during his senior season. The 6’7” post concluded his Panther career as
the school’s 2nd all-time leading scorer, and 2nd all-time leader in
rebounds and assists in the season. Brain also ranks 4th all-time in
blocks in a season and 3rd all-time in career blocks in the Minnesota
state record books. Brian was tabbed as an all-conference player all
four years of his Onamia career, was voted team captain and team MVP in
2005 and 2006, and was an Academic All-state selection this past year.
When asked why he chose DSU over the many other schools he was being
recruited by. Bolin replied, “I am very impressed with Coach Kooiman and
what DSU has to offer me. I am looking forward to achieving my academic
and athletic goals while attending DSU.”
