Corsica Standout Signs to Play for Trojans

March 27, 2006

(Madison, SD) - Dakota State University Head Men’s Basketball Coach Wade Kooiman
is proud to announce the signing of Matt Schrank, a 6’2” guard from Corsica High School in Corsica, SD.  Matt becomes the second addition to the Trojans’ 2006-07 recruiting class, joining recently signed point guard Bryce Kreutzfeldt of Chester.

Schrank joins the Trojans fresh off a stellar career at Corsica High School where he finished in the school’s top five all-time in career points (5th), rebounds (3rd), and steals (5th).  Matt also finished his career as the Comets’ all-time leader in assists (241).  During his senior season, Matt averaged 18ppg, 10rpg, and 6apg, while shooting 40% from three-point range in being named to the CBH All-Conference Team.  In 2004-2005, Matt helped lead Corsica to a 23-2 record and a 5th place finish in the South Dakota Class “B” State Tournament.

“Matt has a great work ethic,” says Kooiman.  “His feel for the game is well above that of an average high school senior.  He is very athletic and brings a lot of intangibles that a team needs to be successful.”
