Kreutzfeldt to Play for Kooiman,
Dakota State University

March 20, 2006

(Madison, SD) The day after finishing third in state tournament, Chester Area High School stand-out Bryce Kreutzfeldt signs his letter of intent to play at Dakota State University.  Kreutzfeldt, two time All Class “A” Tournament Team, and soon to be a four time All Conference player, averaged 19 points, 6 assists, 5 rebounds and 2 steals per game as a senior for the Flyers.  A varsity player since 8th grade, Kreutzfeldt has compiled 1,185 points, 422 rebounds and has the school record for assists at 485.

During his reign as point guard, the Chester Flyers have finished 3rd in Boys Class “A” in 2002, 2006, and were State “A” Champions in 2004.  This winning tradition is something Coach Kooiman is sure he will bring with him to Dakota State.  “When you add everything up, Bryce is one of the best in the state.  He is tough, a proven leader, a winner, and very selfless on and off the floor.  All are core characteristics needed to succeed as a collegiate point guard,” said Kooiman.

A member of the 2005 First Team All-State “A”, Kreutzfeldt will be a great addition to a solid core of players returning to Dakota State’s Men’s Basketball program.  Coach Kooiman is looking forward to next year’s team and the future of the Men’s Basketball program.  Kooiman stated, “Our goal is to have the best freshman class in the conference, and signing Bryce is the first step to achieving that goal.  Hopefully now he has started the domino effect, and other players of his caliber are soon to follow.”

Bryce is a native of Madison and is pictured with his mother Brenda, his father Mark and Coach Kooiman.
