"Winning the first game is better than the
alternative," said DSU Coach Tim Schuring.
"But,
one game does not a season make. Right now, we just need to keep
progressing and take each game as it comes."
Playing in Forest City, Backus (pictured right),
a freshman, went 6-for-8 in field goals and made three of his five free
throw shots to score 15 points for the Trojans.
Raphael and Hyde, both seniors, were right behind with 14-point games.
Burggraff, another senior, added 11 points as the Trojans had a 28-27 edge
in field goals made and outscored their hosts 14-13 at the free throw
line.
