Trojan hoopsters open with 'W'

"Winning the first game is better than the alternative," said DSU Coach Tim Schuring. "But, one game does not a season make. Right now, we just need to keep progressing and take each game as it comes."

Playing in Forest City, Backus (pictured right), a freshman, went 6-for-8 in field goals and made three of his five free throw shots to score 15 points for the Trojans.

Raphael and Hyde, both seniors, were right behind with 14-point games. Burggraff, another senior, added 11 points as the Trojans had a 28-27 edge in field goals made and outscored their hosts 14-13 at the free throw line.
