With a 67-61 win over South Dakota Tech Saturday in Rapid City,
Dakota State University's Trojans stayed even (3-3) and earned
fourth place in the Dakota Athletic Conference's basketball
standings.
The Trojans handed S.D. Tech its first loss of the DAC-10 year after
the Hardrockers had won their first four conference games.
DSU built a 33-28 halftime edge and maintained that lead with a
34-33 second half.
"It's been a long time since we have beaten a team of this caliber
on the road," said DSU Coach Tim Schuring. "Our performance
(Saturday night) highlighted our team's resolve and mental
toughness. Even though we were fatigued and a little banged up, we
found a way to get it done and put together one of best finishes of
the season. We really functioned well on both ends of the floor down
the stretch."
DSU (4-9 overall) needed the win to get to a .500 level in the
DAC-10 after suffering a 75-58 defeat at the hands of Black Hills
State the previous night. |
