Trojan Men's Basketball Team Volunteered in Habitat for Humanity Program

September 11, 2007

(Madison, SD) – Last Wednesday, the Dakota State Men’s Basketball program took their time to volunteer to help at the Habitat for Humanity House in Madison, SD.  The Trojan men’s basketball program had 21 members, along with Head Coach Wade Kooiman and Associate Head Coach Orion Thompson, working on the interior framing of the house.  In addition, there was a group of kids helping with siding preparation.

Susan and Brandon Nordaune are the recipients of the work and the house.  Susan works as a Senior Claims Clerk at Dakota State University.  “I was excited to see the Men’s Basketball program participate and look forward to having their help in the future,” said Susan Nordaune.  “I’m very thankful for the involvement of these young men and sincerely appreciate it.”

Barbara Johnson is the executive director of the East Central South Dakota Habitat for Humanity.  Tracy Fox is the volunteer coordinator for this Habitat for Humanity project.  For more information or interested in volunteering in the Habitat for Humanity, contact Tracy Fox at 605-256-7327 or e-mail her at tracy.fox@dsu.edu

The men’s basketball team worked for one day, but they are planning for another time to volunteer very soon.
