Inks January 26, 2007 - (Madison, SD) - Dakota State University Head Men's Basketball Coach Wade Kooiman is proud to announce the signing of first two members of the Trojans 2007-2008 recruiting class. Jason DeZeeuw of Elkton, SD and Derek Kreutzfeldt of Wentworth, SD, both former State Champions, will be joining the Trojans in fall 2007. DeZeeuw, a 6'1" point guard, comes to DSU off a stellar career at Elkton High School where he helped lead the Elks to a the 2005 South Dakota Class 'B' State Championship as a sophomore. For his efforts in the Elks' championship run, Jason was chosen to the All-Tournament Team. During his junior year, Jason was named 1st Team All-Dakota Valley Conference and was chosen to the All-Area Team. So far through his senior year, Jason has quarterbacked Elkton to a State 9AA Football Championship appearance and has been chosen as a finalist for South Dakota Mr. basketball while averaging 24 points, 5 rebounds, and 7 assists per game. Jason is the son of Larry and Judy DeZeeuw of Elkton. Kreutzfeldt will make his way to Dakota State following an outstanding high school career for Coach Scott Langerock's Chester Flyers. Throughout his high school career, Derek helped Chester to the 2004 South Dakota Class 'A' State Championship and a 3rd place finish in the 2006 State 'A' Tournament, while being named to the All-Tournament Team. Derek, a 6'3" guard-forward, is a two-time Big East All-Conference selection and has been a member of the National Honor Society all four years at Chester. Derek is averaging 21 points and 9 rebounds per game and has also been named a finalist for the South Dakota Mr. Basketball Award. He is the son of Mark and Brenda Kreutzfeldt of Wentworth. "Both of these young gentlemen are great competitors, proven winners, and will fit in perfectly at our university and within our basketball program," said Kooiman. "Jason's court savvy and leadership skills combined with Derek's ability to score and rebound from a perimeter position can have a great impact on our program over the next four year. We truly feel we have two of the finest young men and best basketball players throughout the state in Jason and Derek," added Kooiman. Dakota State University Head Men's Basketball Coach Wade Kooiman is proud to announce the signing of Bryce Snyder to a Dakota State Athletic Conference letter of intent for the 2007-2008 year. Bryce joins Jason DeZeeuw of Elkton and Derek Kreutzfeldt of Chester as the first three members of the Trojans' new freshman class. Snyder, a 6'7", 235 lb. Harford, SD native, comes to DSU by the way of West Central High School. While at West Central, Bryce was a two-sport star where he helped lead the Trojans to three state football championships while being select as the 2006 Class 11A All-State Tight End. On the hardwood, Bryce was an All-Conference selection, named team MVP, and led his team in scoring as junior. Currently, Bryce is averaging 14 points and 13 rebounds per game, including a season-best 30 points, 20 rebounds, 7 assists effort against Garretson. Bryce is the son of Jason and Lana Synder of Hartford. "Bryce is a phenomenal young man that will be a great addition to Dakota State University and our men's basketball program," said Kooiman. "He has an outstanding work ethic and a tremendous upside that will contribute greatly to our basketball program," added Kooiman. "We are ecstatic to have Bryce joining our program and truly feel he has the potential to help take us to the next level."
