Backus Named NAIA All-American Honorable Mention for the Second Straight Year

(Madison, SD) - At the conclusion of the NAIA Men's Basketball Division II Tournament, the NAIA announced the All-American honors.  Included was one Trojan men's basketball player, Joe Backus.  He was named to the NAIA All-American Honorable Mention for his second straight year.

Joe Backus, a 6'8" senior forward from Wentworth, SD, led the team in scoring with 16.8 points per game, and 7.7 rebounds per game this season.  He was also named to the DAC's Most Valuable Senior and All-Conference 1st Team this year.  In 111 career games played at Dakota State, Backus is 7th in Trojan Men's Basketball Record Book in career points with 1564 points, 5th in free throws made with 354, 3rd in total rebounds with 680, and 6th in total field goals made with 596.  In addition, Backus holds the school record in career blocks with 62.

Joe is the son of Wayne and Bonnie Backus of Wentworth, SD, and is majoring in Business Management at Dakota State University.
