Backus Named DAC Most Valuable Senior
& All-Conference Honors

(Madison, SD) - For the second straight season, Joe Backus have been named to Dakota Athletic Conference (DAC) 1st Team Forward.  For the season, he averaged 16.7 points per game and 7.7 rebounds per game.  Backus led the DAC Conference in rebounding. 

Backus, native of Wentworth, SD, had a successful four year career at Dakota State University where he have been listed in several Trojan Basketball Record Book.  He played in 111 games at Dakota State University and he is first in career blocks with 62.  In addition, Backus is fifth in career points with 1554, third in career rebounds with 680, fifth in free throws made with 354, and sixth in field goals made with 596.  In his junior year, he was named to NAIA All-American Honorable Mention.

Joe is the son of Wayne and Bonnie Backus of Wentworth, SD.  Joe is majoring in Business Management at Dakota State University.
