Backus Named DAC Conference
Player of the Week

(Madison, SD) - The Dakota Athletic Conference had recently honored
Dakota State's Joe Backus as DAC Conference
Player
of the Week for January 28-February 3.
In two games last weekend, Backus scored 60 points (30.0 points average
in two games), grabbed 20 rebounds, added one steal, and one blocked
shot as the Trojans dropped a pair of road conference games. In
two contests, he was 20 of 27 from the field, including 2 of 3 from the
three point range, and went 18 for 20 from the free throw line.
For the season, Backus leads the team with 18.4 points per game and
averaged 7.4 rebounds. According to the NAIA DakStats statistical
website, he ranks 34th in the nation in points per game.
Joe is the son of Wayne and Bonnie Backus of Wentworth, SD. Joe is
a senior business management at Dakota State University.
The Trojans (3-19) will play their final non-conference game of the
season as they host Peru State College Tuesday night (February 5).
The game will be held at the DSU Memorial Field House with the tipoff
scheduled at 6:00 pm.
