Morgan and Burpee Honored by NAIA Region III Baseball

(Madison, SD) - After the conclusion of the NAIA Region III Baseball Tournament,
the NAIA Region III All-Region and Gold Glove Teams were announced.
Dakota State's David Morgan and Matt Burpee were selected by the
NAIA Region III Coaches as Morgan was named to All-Region Team and
Burpee to Gold Glove Team.
David Morgan was selected as NAIA Region III All-Region Team Relief Pitcher. He had a stellar season with the Trojans as he posted a 6-3 pitching record with eight saves. Earlier, he was named to DAC All-Conference 1st Team as a Relief Pitcher. In 22 games pitched, Morgan amassed 53 strikeouts, posted a 3.50 ERA, and allowed 41 hits and 21 runs (18 earned). According to NAIA DakStats statistical website, he is ranked 8th in runs allowed per game (0.955), 13th in earned runs allowed (0.818), 16th in saves (8), and 18th in batters struck out per game (10.29). David is the son of David and Kathy Morgan of Kelso, WA, and majors in Exercise Science at Dakota State University.
Matt Burpee was selected as NAIA Region
III Gold Glove Team as a first baseman as the best defense skills in
NAIA Region III. On defense, he fielded 1.000% with 243
catches, 232 putouts, and no errors with 20 double plays this
season. He is ranked first in the latest NAIA DakStats
statistical website in fielding percentage
(1.000%). In addition, Burpee was selected as DAC 1st
Team All-Conference and DAC Gold Glove Team earlier this month.
Matt is the son of Jim and Meryl Burpee of Auburn, WA, and majoring
in Exercise Science at DSU.
