Trojan Baseball Remained 5th in NAIA Region III Poll

(Madison, SD) - In the latest NAIA Region III poll released on Monday, March 24th, the Trojan Baseball team remained fifth with an overall record of 8-7. The Trojans went 7-3 in the tough RussMatt Greater Phoenix Invitational last week in Phoenix, AZ. The Trojans started off the spring break games with a five-game winning streak that included wins over NCAA Division II Minnesota State-Mankato, Dana, Midland Lutheran, Doane, and NCAA Division III Nebraska Wesleyan. The Trojans also recorded wins over NCAA Division III Marian University and Suffolk University.
Jamestown remained first in the NAIA Region III poll with a 12-4 record. Midland Lutheran jumped to second as they started their GPAC conference with a 4-0 record to bring their overall record to 11-8. Northwestern (IA) moved to third with a 10-7 record, 3-1 GPAC conference record as Morningside dropped to fourth with a 10-5 record and 2-0 GPAC conference record. Doane College rounded up the NAIA Region III top six with a 10-13 record and 3-1 GPAC conference record.
The Trojan Baseball team's home opener will be on Wednesday, March 26th as they take on DAC conference foe Mayville State in a non-conference doubleheader at the Flynn Field. The first pitch is set at 12:00 noon. The Trojans will open their DAC Conference schedule as they host Minot State in a weekend series on Saturday, March 29th and Sunday, March 30th at the Flynn Field, starting at 1:00 pm both days.
