Trojans Regain First Place in DAC,
Sweep Jamestown

Dakota State University's Trojans stand atop the
DAC baseball standings Tuesday (today) after packing away 4-2 and 4-3 wins over
Jamestown College Monday at Jack Brown Field in Jamestown, N.D.
The Trojans lead the loop by half a
game over Jamestown with their 6-3 mark, compared to the Jimmies' 5-3 record.
After traveling to Doane, Neb., Wednesday for two non-conference games against
Doane College, DSU will re-enter DAC play this weekend at Mayville, N.D.,
playing Mayville State.
DSU 4, Jamestown 2
Trojan starter Dan Rhodes and relievers Jason Ciz and David Morgan limited the
Jimmies to just six hits, while combining for four strikeouts and four walks.
The hill trio was helped along by the Trojans' offense, which banged out nine
hits against Jamestown pitchers Greg Doyle and Ryan Picotte. Doyle had four
strikeouts.
Lead-off hitter Jeff Savas, catcher Mike Young and centerfielder Nick Hardy each
collected two hits, Armando Rodriguez added a double, and Josh Guild and Zane
Roduner added singles.
For Jamestown, designated hitter Ben Cairns and leftfielder Jeremy Burgard each
doubled and singled.
DSU 4, Jamestown 3
DSU converted four hits into four runs in the finale, with Savas, Guild, Matt
Burpee and Roduner scoring for the Trojans. Burpee had the only extra-base hit,
which was a double. Ciz picked up the win for the Trojans, with relief help from
Morgan. Ciz and Morgan combined for six strikeouts, while giving up five
Jamestown hits.
The Jimmies were led by Jordan Dusanj, who went 2-for-3. Burgard, Dave Sauter
and Miles Johnson also hit safely for Jamestown.
