(Madison, SD) – The Trojan Men's & Women's Indoor Track and Field team competed in their final regular season meet at the University of South Dakota/John Dalton Invitational last Saturday, February 16th.  The meet featured 22 teams and 900 athletes competed at the USD DakotaDome in Vermillion, SD.

Lee Irvine won the men's 800 meter run event with the time of 1:58.00.  Lee is the son of of Frank and Ann Irvine of Lander, WY and is a sophomore at Dakota State University.  Tyler VanPeursem finished fourth with the time of 1:58.60 in the men's 800 meter run.  Tyler is the son of Kevin and Shelly VanPeursem of Sioux Falls, SD, and is a sophomore majoring in Computer Science at Dakota State.

Chris Heezen improved his qualifying time in the men's 3000 meter run.  He finished third at the meet with a time of 8:53.73.  Chris is the son of Jerry and Peggy Heezen of Miller, SD and is a senior Exercise Major at Dakota State University.

Trevor Strobel placed second in the men's 500 meter run in the time of 1:08.22.  Trevor is the son of Rod and Lynda Strobel of Sioux Falls, SD and is majoring in Computer Education at Dakota State University.

The men's 4 x 400 relay team ran their fastest time of the season with a 3:26.29 clocking.  The relay team earned second place honors to Doane College who has the 6th fastest time in the nation.  The 4 x 400 relay team included Irvine, Cody Foreman, Strobel, and VanPeursem.  Cody is the son of Doyle and Kay Foreman of Orient, SD, and is a sophomore Business major at Dakota State University.

The Trojan women's and men's indoor track and field team will compete in the DAC Indoor Track and Field Conference Championship meet held in Spearfish, SD on Friday, February 22 and Saturday, February 23.
