(Madison, SD) – The Dakota State University Men’s & Women’s Indoor Track and Field team participated in the USD Graphic Edge Invitational last Saturday, January 26th.  There were two athletes qualified for NAIA National Indoor Track and Field National Championships, two broken school records, and two first place finishers at the meet.

Tyler Van Peursem became the third athlete from the Trojan’s men’s indoor and track team to qualify to the NAIA Nationals.  He ran in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:56.26 and finished second in the meet.  Tyler is the son of Kevin and Shelly Van Peursem of Sioux Falls, SD and is a sophomore majoring in Computer Science at Dakota State University.

Bobbi Jo Dykstra improved her time in the women’s 60 meter hurdles and broke a new school record with a time of 9.00 seconds.  She also qualified to the NAIA Nationals and finished first at the USD Graphic Edge Invitational meet.  Bobbi is the daughter of Brian and Linda Dykstra of Marion, SD and is a senior majoring in Exercise Science at DSU.

Katie Gylfe set a new school record in women’s weight throw with a measurement of 40’ 00.75”.  She improved from her previous school record measurement of 36’ 8.5” set in USD/Derek Miles Open.  Katie is the daughter of Joseph Class and Arlene Gylfe and is a sophomore majoring in Exercise Science at DSU.

Anthony Drealan crossed the finish line first in the men’s 1000 meter run with a time of 2:38.31.  He already qualified to the NAIA Nationals in the men’s 1 mile run.  Anthony is the son of Anthony is the son of Wayne and Heidi Drealan of Fulda, MN and is a sophomore majoring in Computer Education at Dakota State University.

The NAIA National Indoor Track & Field Championships will be held on March 6-8, 2008 in
Johnson City, TN.

The Trojan women’s and men’s indoor track and field team will compete in the Dordt Invitational on Saturday, February 2, 2008.  The meet will be held in Sioux Center, IA with the first meet starting at approximately 9:45 am.
