(Madison, SD) –
Last Saturday, January 11th, 2008, the
Trojan women’s and men’s indoor track and field return back
to action as the competed in the Minnesota State-Mankato
Alumni Open.
Seniors Bobbi Jo Dykstra and
Chris Heezen had improved their performances from their
previous meet for NAIA Nationals qualifying.
Sophomore Anthony Drealan
qualified to the NAIA National Indoor Track and Field in the
mile run.
Dykstra improved her fastest time in
women’s 60 meter hurdles this season as she finished second
in the MSU Alumni Open with the time of 9.03 seconds.
At the USD Derek Miles Open, she recorded 9.05
seconds in the 60 meter hurdles.
She qualified to the NAIA National Indoor Track and
Field Championship.
Bobbi is the daughter of Brian and Linda Dykstra of
Marion, SD and is majoring in Exercise Science at Dakota
State University.
Heezen recorded his fastest time this year
in men’s 5000 meter run last Saturday in Mankato, MN with a
time of 15:22.76 and finished first in the meet.
He ran with a time of 15:29.74 in the USD Derek Miles
Open last December.
Heezen qualified to the NAIA Indoor Track and Field
Championship for his second straight year.
Chris is the son of Jerry and Peggy Heezen of Miller,
SD and is majoring in Exercise Science at Dakota State
University.
Drealan qualified to the NAIA National
Indoor Track & Field Championship for his first time.
He qualified in the men’s one mile run as he finished
sixth at the MSU Alumni Open with the time of 4:23.52.
Anthony is the son of Wayne and Heidi Drealan of
Fulda, MN and is majoring in Computer Education at Dakota
State University.
The NAIA National Indoor Track & Field
Championships will be held on March 6-8, 2008 in Johnson
City, TN.
The Trojan women’s and men’s indoor track
and field team will compete in the USD Bill Hillenbrand Open
on Saturday, January 19, 2008.
The meet will be held at the USD DakotaDome in
Vermillion, SD.
