(Madison, SD) - The fall sports season officially began last
week at Dakota State University with teams reporting to DSU
campus for their respective camps.
Dakota State volleyball opens its ninth season under head
coach Cynthia Henning. The Trojan Volleyball is
preparing for their first two matches Saturday, August 23 in
the Mount Marty Triangular in Yankton, SD. The Trojans
will face the host team at 11:00 am and Waldorf College (IA)
at 1:00 pm. The junior varsity contest will be
included as well at the same times. The Trojans are
selected to finish 8th in the DAC Preseason Volleyball
Coaches' Poll. The season home opener will be on
Wednesday, August 27th as the Trojans will host in-state
rival University of Sioux Falls with a junior varsity match
at 4:00 pm with varsity to follow at 7:00 pm.
The Trojan Football team, picked to tie for fifth in the DAC
Football Preseason Poll, welcomed its student-athletes
August 15 with practice officially starting Saturday, August
16. The Trojan Football team, under the direction of
head coach Tom Shea, will open their season at the Trojan
Field on Saturday, August 30th as they host Bacone College
of Oklahoma with the kickoff starting at 1:30 pm.
Dakota State men's and women's cross country teams, under
new head coach Trent Mack, will report to camp on September
2. The Trojans will compete in their first meet on
Friday, September 5th at the Dakota Wesleyan Invitational in
Mitchell, SD. Dakota State will be hosting two home
meets this season, the Dakota State/Herb Blakely
Invitational during Trojan Homecoming, September 27, and the
DAC Conference Championship Meet on November 8.
