The Dakota Athletic Conference announced the DAC Women's Basketball All-Conference awards for the 2007-08 season.  Three Lady T's seniors were named to the prestigious squads headed by Jessica VanLoy (1st Team All-Conference), Laura Tewes (2nd Team All-Conference, and Maria Gengler (3rd Team All-Conference).  In addition, Jessica VanLoy was honored by the DAC as the Most Valuable Senior.

VanLoy has been named to the DAC's 1st Team All-Conference team.  This is the third year that she has received All-Conference honors.  This season, VanLoy averaged 13.4 points per game, 5.0 assists per game, and 2.5 steals per game.  She is ranked #15 in the nation according to the DakStats NAIA Statistical website for field goal percentage, hitting 53.6% of her shots.  In addition, VanLoy ranks 21st in assists per game and 42nd in steals per game.  She was also named the DAC's Most Valuable Senior.  On February 1st, 2008, VanLoy joined the 1,000 point club in a game against Jamestown College.  She was also named the DAC Conference Player of the Week (Week of February 2-9, 2008).  Jessica is the daughter of John and Susan VanLoy of Wabasso, MN, and is majoring in Exercise Science at Dakota State University.

For the second straight year, Tewes have been named to the DAC 2nd Team All-Conference Forward.  In 30 games this season, she averaged 12.7 points per game, 7.5 rebounds per game, and recorded a total of 48 blocked shots.  Tewes ranks #33 in the nation in blocks per game (1.6).  She joined the Lady T's 1,000 Point Club in a game against Northwestern College on December 29, 2007.  Laura is the daughter of Doug and Sally Tewes of Mayer, MN, and is majoring in Biology for Information Systems at DSU.

Maria Gengler, senior Exercise Major at Dakota State, earned DAC's 3rd Team All-Conference Center.  She leads the DAC Conference in total blocks with 95 (a single season Lady T's record), and extended her career blocked shots in the Lady T's record book with 257 blocked shots (7th in the nation).  Gengler averaged 10.3 points per game and 6.6 rebounds as a senior.  She became the third senior to reach 1,000 points in a match-up with Jamestown College on January 26, 2008.  Maria is the daughter of Brian and Joyce Gengler of Adrian, MN.

The NAIA National Women's Basketball Division II Tournament brackets will be announced on Wednesday, March 5th.  Dakota State (20-10) won their third straight DAC Conference Regular Season Title.  The Lady T's finished the 2007-08 season ranked ninth in the final national poll.  Those rankings will be used to determine the at-large bids in the 32-team field.
