Two Lady T's athletes were named to the NAIA Women's
Basketball Division II All-American teams announced
after the NAIA Women's Basketball Division II National
Championship Game Tuesday night (March 18).
Jessica VanLoy was named to NAIA All-American Second
Team, while Laura Tewes was listed as NAIA All-American
Honorable Mention.
VanLoy, a 5'10" senior forward from Wabasso, MN, was
named to NAIA All-American 2nd Team, her third straight
year that she received NAIA All-American honors (she was
named to NAIA All-American Honorable Mention in her
sophomore and junior year). For the season, she
led the team in scoring with 13.4 points per game, 4.9
assists per game, and 2.4 steals per game.
According to the DakStats NAIA statistical website,
VanLoy is 19th in the nation in field goal percentage
(52.3%), 22nd in assists per game, and 46th in steals
per game. She was named to DAC's Most Valuable
Senior and 1st Team All-Conference this season.
Jessica is the daughter of John and Susan VanLoy of
Wabasso, MN, and is majoring in Exercise Science at
Dakota State University.
Tewes, a 6'1" senior forward from Mayer, MN, was listed
as NAIA All-American Honorable Mention. She
averaged 13.1 points per game and led the team in
rebounding with an average of 7.5 rebounds. Tewes
amassed 50 blocks this season, which she is ranked 33rd
in the nation in blocks per game (1.6). She was
named to DAC All-Conference 2nd Team this year.
Laura is the daughter of Doug and Sally Tewes of Mayer,
MN and is majoring in Biology for Information Systems
(Pre-Veterinary Medicine) at DSU.
The Lady T's finished their season with a 21-11 overall
record that included their third straight DAC Conference
Regular Season Championship, and reached to the NAIA
"Sweet Sixteen" round.
