(Madison,
SD) – Senior center Maria Gengler scored her 1000th
career point last Saturday’s
game versus
Jamestown
(January 26) with 13:33 left in the first half.
Gengler became the third Lady T this
season to score 1000 career points.
Before entering in the Jamestown game, she only
needed four points to surpass 1000 career points.
She almost recorded a triple-double in #17 Lady
T’s win over Jamestown, 68-56.
Gengler scored
eight points, grabbed nine rebounds, and blocked nine
shots. With
the Lady T’s win over Jamestown, the Lady T’s moved in a
three-way tie for first place in the DAC conference with
Black Hills State and Minot State.
Gengler, 6’2” from Adrian, MN, scored
1004 points so far in her four year career at Dakota
State University.
She also ranked fifth in the nation in blocks per
game (3.3) according to the NAIA DakStats statistical
website.
Maria (pictured left with Lady T’s head coach Jeff
Dittman) is the daughter of Brian and Joyce Gengler of
Adrian, MN.
The Lady T’s (13-8, 5-2 DAC) will head to North Dakota
this weekend in a rare back-to-back conference weekend
series. The Lady
T’s will take on Jamestown on Friday night and Valley
City State on Saturday afternoon.
