Playing sharp defense and
winning the rebound battle got
Dakota State University's Lady
T's past Peru State College
68-58 Friday in Peru, Neb.
On Saturday, however, DSU fell
50-33 to the College of St. Mary
in Omaha.
"Our defense and rebounding got
us a win in Peru," said Lady T's
Coach Jeff Dittman. "We
weren't able to generate a lot
of points in the half court, but
by forcing 30 turnovers and
grabbing 20 offensive rebounds,
we were able to score enough
points to get the win."
Against St. Mary, Dittman added,
"I don't remember the last time
we scored only 33 points in a
game. This was a terrible
offensive performance for us.
We missed perimeter shots,
lay-ups, offensive put-backs and
freethrows. Some of that
was a credit to their defense
but a lot of it was poor
concentration on our part."
DSU entered the weekend at 5-2
and ranked sixth in the NAIA
Div. II national polls.
