
Dakota
State University's Lady
T's won two important
Dakota Athletic
Conference women's
basketball games this
weekend, defeating Minot
State, 66-58, and
Dickinson State, 87-64,
at the DSU Fieldhouse.
The two victories
lifted the Lady T's to
7-2 and
keeps
them in a tie
with Mayville State at
the top of the
conference standings.
DSU is also 14-8
overall.
On Friday, Minot
State carried its No. 17
NAIA Women's Div. II
ranking into play
against the Lady T's.
DSU
staged a late first-half
13-3 scoring run to knot
the game at 34-all at
halftime,
then
outscored the
Lady Beavers 32-24 in
the second half.
Jill Hansen,
Laura Tewes and Angela
Carr helped the Lady T's
with double-figure
scoring. Hansen weaved
her way through Minot
defenders for 12 points.
Tewes
was right behind with 11
points and Carr
added
10 points.
The Lady T's shot
24-for-53 from the
field, good enough for
46-percent figures,
outgunning Minot, which
went 22-49.
Jessica
VanLoy added nine
points, Sara Nelson
eight and Nicole Geraets
and Angie Gottsleben
each had six for DSU.
Off the boards,
DSU had a 33-25 edge
over the Lady Beavers.
VanLoy hauled in nine
rebounds, Maria Gengler
five and Tewes and
Nelson each had four.
VanLoy also had
five steals and
Hansen
had four. Carr had four
assists.
For Minot, Arrita
Oler had 13 points and
Brittni Walker and
Kendra Meyer each had
10. Jenny
Castro had a
team-leading six
rebounds and Oler added
