A 47-25 second-half scoring explosion powered Dakota State University to a 29-point, 85-57, win over Dakota Wesleyan University here Friday in college women's basketball action at the DSU Memorial Fieldhouse.

With the win, DSU's Lady T's, ranked sixth in the NAIA Div. II women's preseason poll, lifted their early-season mark to 5-2.

Five Lady T's -- Maria Gengler, Jessica VanLoy, Jill Hansen, Nicole Geraets and Laura Tewes -- all enjoyed double-figures scoring nights in the win.  Gengler led the way with her 18-point performance, which included 8-for-11 field goal shooting. VanLoy was next with her 14 points, followed by Hansen and her dozen counters.  Geraets, who went 3-6 from beyond the 3-point arc, had 11 points and Tewes, in going 4-7 from the field, had 10 points.

These five Lady T's shooting pushed DSU to a 31-64 field goal shooting night, which included a 6-16 showing in 3-point field goals.  Also, Dakota State had a solid 18-22 night at the charity stripe.

Dakota State's defense and rebounding also helped in shutting down Dakota Wesleyan on offense.  The Lady T's limited DWU to just 20-53 field goal shooting.

Dakota Wesleyan got just a pair of double-digit scoring performances, which included Kelly Haiar, who had 18 points, and Kara Overweg, who added 13.

Tewes, Geraets and Angela Carr each garnering three steals as Dakota State forced DWU in 17 turnovers.  The Lady T's also hounded the boards, giving up just 28 rebounds, while claiming 40 of their own, led by Tewes, who completed her double-double night with 10 rebounds.

Dakota Wesleyan got four rebounds apiece from Overweg and Adra Pazour.

Dakota State's Lady T's won't play again until a week from Friday when they travel to Peru, Neb., to take on Peru State University. The next day, they play the College of St. Mary in Omaha.
