MADISON - Dakota State used an
11-0 run during the early
portion of the second half and
went on to defeat No. 18-ranked
Black Hills State 69-62 in
Dakota Athletic Conference
women's basketball play Friday.
The Lady T's trailed 32-31 with
17:44 to play in the game but
scored 11 unanswered points to
take a 42-32 with 12:16 to go on
a Nicole Geraets bucket.
Black Hills State scratched back
into the game and tied the
contest at
47-all when Brittney Klipfel
sank a pair of free throws with
6:40 remaining.
Dakota
State scored eight straight
points to go up 55-47 with 5:20
to play.
The Yellow Jackets
crawled within 57-55 on Jaime
Bentley's 3-point field goal,
but Black Hills State could not
regain the lead the rest of the
way.
Angela Carr sank 13 of 14 free
throw attempts on her way to
scoring 19 points, high for the
Lady T's. Dakota State went
30-for-36 from the charity
stripe, while Black Hills State
made 11 of 18 free throws.
Geraets finished with 11 points
and Alyssa Kirk chipped in 10
for Dakota State (9-8, 2-2 DAC).
Klipfel scored 23 points to lead
Black Hills State, which held a
22-11 lead at the 8:39 mark of
the first half after going on a
12-0 run.
Bentley and Lacey
Haughian scored 10 points each
for the Yellow Jackets (11-7,
2-2 DAC).
Dakota State hosts South Dakota
Mines at 3 p.m. today. The Lady
Hardrockers lost to Mayville
State 74-57 on Friday.
