Lady T's Dominate Martin Luther

Dakota State University forced its will on Martin Luther College Tuesday in New Ulm, Minn., cruising to an 84-52 win. It was the Lady T's third win in a row, lifting their record to 5-3.

"Overall, we played a very good game," stated DSU Coach Jeff Dittman. "We pressured well on the defensive end, forcing turnovers that resulted in fastbreak lay-ups. We also got to play a lot of athletes tonight, so it was a good opportunity for everyone to get some minutes as we head into conference play next week."

Hanson, the Lady T's point guard, snapped in 25 points, hitting most of her 12 field goals from the perimeter.  Gengler, one of the Lady T's top post players, controlled the inside game to the tune of 17 points on her
7-for-10 field goal shooting, coupled with a 3-of-4 free throw display.

Angela Carr and Jessica VanLoy had eight points each, Laura Tewes netted seven points and six points came from Angie Gottsleben as the Lady T's shot a healthy 50 percent, 33-66, in field goal shooting.

"Offensively, I'm happy with our 50-percent field goal accuracy in the game," added Dittman. "We also did a pretty good job of controlling the boards in the first half."  Off the boards, DSU had a 43-40 rebound edge over Martin Luther; Sara Nelson led the winners with seven rebounds. VanLoy and Tricia Boldt each had six rebounds and Gengler five.

Tewes added four steals and Hanson had three thefts in the game. Carr had six assists, VanLoy and Steph Kaup five apiece and Hanson four.

DSU surged to a 46-23 lead at halftime and then outscored Martin Luther's Lady Knights 38-29 in the game's final 20 minutes.

Martin Luther was sparked by the double-figures performances of Emma Babinec and Sarah Seelow, who had respective 20- and 12-point nights. 
Carly Belz added eight points and Emily Lemke seven as the Lady Knights went 22-64 in field goal shooting and 7-12 at the charity stripe. 
Babinec had eight of Martin Luther's 40 rebounds and Belz and Hannah Bode each had four. Babinec also had three steals and four assists.

The Lady T's get a Thanksgiving break before preparing for their Dakota Athletic Conference opener at home against Jamestown College on Dec. 1.
