On Thursday, the DAC-10 prevailed over the GPAC in
women's basketball as Dakota State University's Lady
Trojans handed Mount Marty a 68-62 defeat in Madison.
The win lifted Coach Jeff
Dittman's Lady T's to 11-4 while Mount Marty's mark
dropped to 8-7. The Lady
T's led by a razor-thin 31-30 margin at halftime and
managed to outscore Mount Marty by just five points,
37-32, in the game's final 20 minutes.
DSU's
defense played a key role in Thursday's win, forcing the
Lady Lancers into 26 turnovers and producing 25 fouls,
which led the Lady T's to the charity stripe where they
went 25-of-34. Helping
DSU get the win were Renae Bottum and Sara Nelson, who
each had 13 points as the Trojans shot 20-for-43 from
the field.

DSU also got nine points from Jessica Van Loy,
eight by Angie Carr and seven from Ashlei Fawbush, a
Madison sophomore who returned to the lineup after a
season-ending knee injury a year ago.
The
Lady T's had a 34-30 rebound edge over Mount Marty with
Nelson swiping the boards for nine rebounds and Van Loy
seven.
Mount
Marty got a team-leading 14 points from Jess Krull and
10 more by Tevan Wenbourne. Krull also had six rebounds
and five assists and Wenbourne four.
DSU held Amy Bigge, the Lady Lancers' top scorer,
to just eight points as Mount Marty shot just 24-57 from
the field and 8-17 at the free throw line.
DSU's
next women's basketball action comes Sunday when the
Lady T's travel to Sioux City to play Briar Cliff
College at 3 p.m.
