Robin Grinager's 3-point basket Saturday proved to be crucial for the Lady T's as her long-distance shot set up Dakota State University's 70-65 overtime win over Black Hills State.  Grinager's shot came with just 1.7 seconds left in regulation, which knotted the game at 57-57.

"We got the ball to Ashlie Fawbush, who broke their press and made a quick pass to Jill Hansen," said DSU Coach Jeff Dittman of the game-tying shot. "Jill then made a kick-out pass to Robin, who hit the tying 3-pointer."  The Lady T's then outscored Black Hills State 13-8 in the extra period to nail down the five-point win.

"We got some great performances in the second half and in the overtime," added Dittman. "Besides the key 3-pointer, Robin also jumped in front of a potential steal in the overtime, got fouled and hit two free throws that put us up by four points. That was a huge play. Black Hills was never able to get any closer than four points after that."
Saturday's victory lifted the Lady T's to 8-5 in the DAC-10, offsetting its 73-57 loss to S.D. Tech on Friday.  DSU entered the weekend as the 23rd-ranked team in the NAIA Div. II's poll and ended with a 15-8 overall record.  DSU is tied with Jamestown College at 8-5 in the DAC-10, but both trail the University of Mary by four games as the Lady Marauders are 12-1 in the loop.

On Saturday, Angie Carr, Grinager and Sara Nelson paced the Lady T's on offense.  Carr popped in a game-high 22 points, followed by Nelson with 14 and Grinager 10.  Nelson completed a double-double by yanking down 14 of the Lady T's 49 rebounds.  Sandy Smith and Stacy Dunklau each had six rebounds, and Laura Tewes and Renae Bottum had five apiece.  Bottum also had four assists.

"Angie had another outstanding performance, hitting 22 points and Sara had a 'double-double', scoring 14 points and getting 14 rebounds," said Dittman.

Black Hills State led DSU 26-19 at halftime before the Lady T's put together a 38-31 second half to tie the game.

The Yellow Jackets  were led by Jamie Bentley with 20 points and Becca Walter added 13 counters as Black Hills State outgunned the Lady T's 25-21.  Black Hills State also got nine rebounds by Walters and five apiece by Brittney Klipfel, Bentley and Lindsey Buthe.  DSU, though, outscored BHSU 21-11 at the freethrow line.

S.D. Tech led by as much as 20 points, 41-21, before settling for a
41-26 halftime cushion.  The Lady T's cut Tech's lead to single digits at one point in the second half, but spent too much energy trying to catch up to Tech, which won the 16-point verdict.

"We were beat in most facets of the game," admitted Dittman.  "Tech was the more aggressive team.  I thought we were a step slower than Tech most of the night ant was a huge key to our 31 turnovers."

DSU was sparked by Carr, whose trio of 3-pointers helped her take team-high scoring honors with 18 points.  Nelson also had 12 points and Amber Malvin 10.

Tech, which outgunned DSU 28-19 in made field goals and tied the Lady T's in freethrow scoring with 14 points, got 23 game-high points from Cori Leis, 22 more from Megan Barnes and 12 by Melanie Vedvei.

The Lady T's outrebounded S.D. Tech 41-29 with Tewes swiping the boards for 11 rebounds.  Stacy Dunklau added nine rebounds and Nelson seven.
