Sioux Falls (7-6) put together a crucial 10-minute
scoring run of 33-13 to overcome a game-opening
16-7 deficit and earn a 40-29 halftime
advantage.
"During that stretch, Sioux Falls pushed the
ball on us and got a number of baskets in
transition, as well as dominated us on the
boards," said DSU Coach Jeff Dittman.
The Lady T's (7-7) put together a 40-37 scoring
run in the game's final 20 minutes.
"We made a couple of runs in the second half
and closed the game to five points (at one stage
of the game)," added Dittman. "But we
couldn't ever get out of the hole we dug
ourselves."
Hali McClelland paced
DSU's offense with 6-for-14 field goal figures and
a perfect 5-5 tour at the free throw line, ending
with an 18-point night. McClelland and
Amanda Zephier came through with eight rebounds
each as DSU claimed 39 caroms. Amber Malvin
contributed 14 points, including a 2-4 night from
beyond the 3-point arc.
Renae Bottum, Andrea
Gullickson and Sandy Smith also had respective
nine-, eight- and seven-point outings for the Lady
T's, who went 25-62 from the field, including six
3-pointers. Malvin had a team-leading seven
assists, while Lindsey Binger added four more
assists. Sara Nelson had three blocked shots and
Bottum three steals for DSU.
USF's Lady Cougars, who
went 30-68 from the field, got a game-high 25
points from Lindsey Schneiderman. Courtney Farrell
had a double-double Tuesday, netting 16 points and
hauling in 12 rebounds. Schneiderman and
Farrell combined for 16-28 field goal shooting.
Schneiderman was also 7-9 at the charity stripe
and had seven of USF's 42 rebounds. Kassy
Hegge added 11 points, going 5-7 from the field.
The Lady T's hit the road
