Dakota State University's Lady Trojans needed second-half rallies in games against both Minot State and Dickinson State to keep their at-home perfect 7-0 record intact.  On Friday, Amber Malvin's basket with just 4.1 seconds left against Minot propelled the Lady T's to a 61-60 win.

"We shot the ball pretty badly in the first half," said Jeff Dittman, DSU's head coach, "but we kept ourselves in the game with our offensive rebounding.  We did a better job in the second half of executing and hitting the shots we got. Defensively, we did a pretty good job of covering their shooters all game long."  DSU trailed Minot State 30-28 at halftime.

A 36-30 second-half scoring run by the Lady T's gave them a 66-65 decision over 10th-ranked Dickinson Saturday.  Against Dickinson, the Lady T's were behind 35-30 after the first 20 minutes of play.

"We played an excellent game against an outstanding (Dickinson) team," cited Dittman.  "Dickinson has a tremendous inside game and one of the best three-point shooters in the country.  I was very pleased that we were able to keep them at 65 points, even though they shot 48 percent from the field."

The Lady T's (7-6 overall and 2-2 in the DAC-10) won't play again until Dec. 30 when they host the University of Sioux Falls.

DSU was led by Hali McClelland tilt-top 25 points on 10-17 field goal shooting and a perfect 4-4 at the charity stripe.  "Hali had an exceptional game, scoring 25 points, grabbing seven rebounds and handing out four assists," added Dittman.  Sandy Smith was the only other Lady T with double-digit scoring, collecting 14 points.  Andrea Gullickson added eight tallies.

"We also got a very good game from Sandy, who came off the bench to score her 14 points and grab seven rebounds," said Dittman.

With Minot outgunning the Lady T's 26-23 in field goals, DSU won the game at the free throw line, outscoring Minot 14 -5 from there.  Gullickson, McClelland and Smith each had seven rebounds.

Minot got 18 points from Jennifer Sundahl and 11 more by Lyndsi Johnson.  Leann Pekovitch had nine rebounds and Brenda Robinson as Minot outrebounded DSU 45-42.

McClelland came through with 22 game-high points to lead the Lady T's to their second-straight come-from-behind win.  The loss dropped Dickinson to 11-2 on the year and 3-1 in DAC-10 play.

Renae Bottum netted 13 points and Gullickson 10 as the Lady T's forged a 29-27 edge in field goals against Dickinson.  Bottum also had seven assists.  Gullickson hauled in 11 of the Lady T's 31 rebounds.

Dickinson got 16 team-top tallies from Nikidia McSween, 14 more by Sara Berglund and 10 from Leline Mayer.  McSween also had eight rebounds and Nicci Schorsch seven.

Dittman cited the play of the entire squad as key factors in Saturday's win.  "This was an excellent performance by everyone on our squad.  We got contributions from everyone.  I was very pleased with our offensive execution," concluded Dittman.  "Dickinson is ranked #1 in the conference in defense, yet we were able to shoot 52 percent from the field for the game.  Our athletes did an excellent job of executing and hitting the shots they got."
