Saturday's win, along with the Lady T's

Mercy College 80-73 in overtime Friday.

Championship Game
Lady T's 64
UW-Superior 56
On Saturday, double-figure scoring by McClelland,
Malvin and Andrea Gullickson paved the Lady T's way
to the championship. DSU
had a late first-half scoring surge which gave the
Lady T's an 11-point, 36-25 lead at the
buzzer. UW-Superior (1-1) got within four
points midway into the second half, but DSU staged
another scoring run to win the game.
McClelland arched in 16 game-high points on 6-for-10
field goal shooting, which included a pair of
three-pointers, and completed a double-double,
garnering 10 rebounds. Malvin
tacked on 13 tallies, going 3-5 from the field,
nailing three 3's along the way. Gullickson
chipped in 11 points with 4-7 field goal-shooting.
"Offensively, we did an excellent job of
shooting the ball," said DSU Coach Jeff Dittman.
"We hit 55 percent from the three-point line
(6-11), 47 percent from the field (24-51) and 77
percent (10-13) from the free throw line. With three
scorers in double figures and Sara Nelson and Renae
Bottum with nine and seven, respectively, we had
very good balance."
Stephanie Janigo, Anderson and Heidi McKay hit
double-figures for Superior, getting 14, 11 and 10
points, respectively. Shawna Johannes pulled down 10
rebounds.
Consolation Game
MLC 58, Mt. Mercy 58
Martin Luther (1-1) got 18 points and 11 rebounds
from Emma Babinec, 12 more points from Eric Czer and
11 by Bauer to gain third-place honors. Martin
Luther outscored Mount Mercy 35-27 in the second
half, unknotting a 31-all halftime tie.
Mount Mercy got 17 tilt-tops points from Katie
Strickland, 14 more by Brandy Schmit and 12 by
Clayton.
FRIDAY GAMES
Lady T's 66, MLC 56
On Friday, the Lady T's put on a solid defensive
show to gain their sixth-straight Security Bank
championship appearance. "We had a good
defensive performance, holding Martin Luther under
60 points and limiting them to just 38-percent
(24-73) shooting," said Dittman.
Nelson, Bottum and Gullickson provided the Lady T's
with double-figures scoring. Nelson amassed 18
points and also had 10 rebounds, while Bottum arched
in 12 tallies and Gullickson 10. McClelland
claimed a tourney-record 19 rebounds.
"In the first half, we were not doing a good
job of keeping Martin Luther off the boards,"
admitted Dittman. "But, we did a much better
job of attacking the offensive boards the second
half. While we weren't shooting the ball
particularly well (23-61), we were getting a lot of
second and even third chances."
Martin Luther got 15 points and six rebounds from
Sarah Gronholz and 14 more points from Dania Koepke.
Babinec also had nine rebounds and Czer added six.
UW-Superior 80
Mount Mercy 73
Mount Mercy came from 14 points down, 50-36, in the
second half to pull even 63-63 at the end of
regulation. Superior, however, staged a 17-10
scoring run in the 5-minute overtime to claim the
win.

Anderson, Katie Galovich and Janigo, who had
respective 21-, 17-, 16- and 12-point nights.

VanderZee, 14 more points from Katie Smith and a

and had a 63-52 rebound edge.
