The double-figure scoring
of Amanda Zephier, Andrea Gullickson, Hali McClelland and
Sara Nelson powered Dakota State University's Lady T's to a
69-51 win over Si Tanka-Huron Thursday in Huron.
Zephier arched in a tilt-tops 17
points, and was followed closely by McClelland and Andrea
Gullickson with 15 apiece. Nelson also had 11 points.
Dakota State, leading 29-15 at halftime, produced 40 points
in the second half to keep the Screaming Eagles from
victory.
"We had
good production in the second half, scoring 40 points,"
said DSU coach Jeff Dittman. "Our first-half
defense also was excellent, limiting Huron to only 15 points
and 17-percent shooting accuracy."
For the night, the Lady T's went 25-for-59 from the field,
including five 3-pointers. They also were 14-21 at the
freethrow line. Also,
Dakota State more than doubled up on Huron in rebounding,
claiming 45 rebounds to Huron's 21. Zephier came down
with 13 rebounds and Gullickson 12.
"We also did a good job on the boards," added
Dittman. "We held them to only one shot a number
of times, while picking up a number of second-shot attempts
fro ourselves." McClelland
had four assists in the game, while Reane Bottum added three
thefts.
Huron got 16 points from Tara Prue and 11 apiece by Crystal
Hooke and Stephanie Harkless as the Screaming Eagles went
just 17-58 from the field, including five 3s, and 12-21 at
the chrity stripe. Prue also had 13 rebounds and three
assists, while Amanda Nordine claimed four assists.
The Lady T's host Jamestown College next Friday and the
