Dakota State
University was an unkind visitor to Huron Thursday when
DSU's Trojans and Lady T's produced a college basketball
sweep of Huron University. The Trojans won 90-76 and the
Lady T's won 70-35.
Both DSU teams stay on the road
this weekend. The Lady T's travel to New Ulm, Minn.,
Friday to play Martin Luther College, while the Trojans
motor to Aberdeen to play Presentation College.

DSU's defense
stifled Huron all evening, limiting Huron to 19 first-half
points and 16 in the second. "We did an
outstanding job on defense the entire game," said
Jeff Dittman, the Lady T's coach. "That was our point
of emphasis this week, and I thought the hard work in
practice paid off."
On offense, DSU got double-digit
scoring from Hali McClelland, Ranae Bottum and Andrea
Gullickson. McClelland arched in 15 points, while
Bottum and Gullickson popped in 10 apiece.
DSU had a decisive 26-14 field
goal success edge over Huron and a 35-28 advantage in
rebounding. Jennie Sonne swiped a team-leading nine
rebounds, while Mandy Kruger added five and Jessica
Honermann four.
"We did a good job of
rebounding," added Dittman. "We had at least 15
second-chance points. That was one of the reasons we
shot almost 49 percent (16-of-33) from the field in the
first half."
Huron got 10 points from Sunshine
Archambault. Abby Schleske also contributed eight
points and seven rebounds.
