Lady T's Beat Minot, Lose to Dickinson

     Dakota State's basketball-playing Lady T's salvaged a 1-1 split in its weekend's action, thumping Minot State 74-56 here Saturday.  On Friday, the Lady T's suffered a three-point, 52-49 defeat to #6 nationally ranked Dickinson State on the Fieldhouse's hardwoood.

     Jeff Dittman's Lady T's will be taking their 13-8 overall record and 6-5 DAC 10 mark into play at Valley City Friday and Mayville Saturday.

     In Saturday's victory, the Lady T's got behind the double-figures scoring of Mandy Kruger, Amy Balk, Jennie Sonne and Hali McLelland to hand Minot the 18-point defeat.

     Kruger weaved her way through Minot's defense for 16 points and was a vital part of Dakota State's 23-of-44 field goal shooting, going 5-10. McClelland, who also went 5-10 from the field, netted 11 points, while Balk and Sonne each had 13.  Dakota State led 35-26 at halftime.

     For Minot, Jamie Laureaux arched in 14 points, Lindsay Johnson 13 and Summer Wright nine. On the night, Minot went 21-60 from the field.  
Off the boards, Minot earned a 40-33 rebound edge over the Lady T's, despite Sonne completing a double-double outing with 10 rebounds. McClelland also had seven caroms.  Minot got six rebounds by Keeann Pekovitch and five more by Johnson.


Dickinson 51, Lady T's 49

Dakota State attempted a second-half comeback, after trailing 26-23 at halftime, but fell short at game's end.  In the second half's later stages, Dakota State forged a 46-45 lead, only to have Dickinson overtake the Lady T's in the last two minutes of the ballgame.

     Sonne was Dakota State's only double-digit scorer, arching in 11 points, while Kruger and Balk each had eight. McClelland also had six points and the Lady T's went just 20-50 from the field.

     Dickinson got 14 points from Jessica Campbell and 13 more from Stacie Schorsch. The Lady Hawks were 21-49 from the field and had a 16-11 scoring edge over the Lady T's at the charity stripe.

     The Lady T's, though, outrebounded Dickinson 26-35 with Sonne having 11 rebounds, while Campbell had nine for Dickinson.
