With a nail-biting 80-79 win over Black Hills State University on Saturday in Spearfish, Dakota State's Lady Trojans kept their slim postseason playoff hopes alive.  DSU also posted an 89-79 victory over South Dakota Tech in Rapid City on Friday.

DSU (10-17 overall and 6-11 in the DAC-10) needs to win the regular-season finale Thursday at home against Huron University to have a chance at a postseason berth.  The Lady T's are now in ninth place in the conference. The first eight place-finishers in the DAC-10 advance to postseason play.

In the Black Hills State game, DSU trailed the Lady Yellow Jackets by one point, 39-38, at halftime, only to outscore Black Hills State 42-40 to earn the win.  Hali McClelland's put-back shot with four seconds left lifted the Lady T's to victory.

"This was an offensive shootout all night," said Jeff Dittman, DSU's head coach. "Neither team could stop the other."  With her game-winner, McClelland wound up with 16 points to lead DSU's offense. Amy Balk tacked on 11 counters and Erin Nielsen and Mandy Kruger each had nine as the Lady T's shot a robust 31-of-55 from the field.

McClelland's nine rebounds also helped DSU to a 34-26 rebound advantage over BHSU.

Black Hills State got 23 game-high points from Darcy Reinicke,
14 more by Melissa Christensen and 15 from Amanda Mortenson. Reinicke also had seven rebounds.

DSU 89, Tech 79

On Friday, Trisha Grablander sparked the Lady T's win, netting 21 points. Kruger added 12 counters and McClelland 10 as the Lady T's went 30-56 from the field.

McClelland had eight rebounds as the Lady T's were outrebounded 42-39. Jessica Honermann also had seven rebounds for DSU.

"Trisha had a great game for us, scoring 21 points overall, including three 3-pointers at the start of the second half, to get us rolling after halftime," added Dittman. "We had a great team effort with nine people scoring five or more points. We were difficult to defend because everyone was hitting shots."

DSU had a slim 45-43 halftime cushion over Tech.

The Lady Hardrockers got a game-high 29 points from Jaime Rathjen, 14 more from Stacie Vedvei and 10 by Miaken Ziegler. Vedvei collected nine rebounds and Zeigler eight.
