The Dakota State
University Fieldhouse hardwood offered no advantage to the
Lady Trojans this weekend. On
Friday and Saturday, DSU suffered consecutive women's DAC-10
basketball losses to Minot State 59-48 and then to Dickinson
State 53-46.
Weak field goal shooting
contributed to both losses, according to Jeff Dittman, the
Lady T's coach. "Our shooting percentage for the
evening was 29 percent," Dittman said of Friday's
encounter with Minot. "Even though we dominated the
boards (36-20) and picked up 15 offensive boards, we still
weren't able to generate enough offense to give ourselves a
chance."
As for Saturday's game against
Dickinson, Dittman added, "It was another night of
excellent defense and rebounding and complete frustration at
the offensive end. This is the fourth time this year we have
shot less than 30 percent from the field."
"This was a tough weekend for
us as we held both teams under 60 points, yet suffered two
losses. We can't play much better defensively and we did a
tremendous job on the boards, grabbing 18 offensive
rebounds. But we aren't converting the boards into points,
which would take a little pressure off our shooters."
Minot 59, Lady T's 48
Minot, which constructed an early 11-2 lead in the game and
shot 40 percent (20-50) from the field, was powered by Kayla
Blom's 26-point scoring show. She gained 14-point support
from Jamie Lamoureaux.
For the Lady T's, Erin Nielsen,
Jessica Honermann and Trisha Grablander each scored 10
points. Jennie Sonne also added nine rebounds and Honermann
six.
Dickinson
53, Lady T's 46
In Saturday's ballgame, Nielsen and Honermann each scored
eight points, Leah Bakke added seven and Grablander six.
Dickinson was gifted by Jessica
Kinnebrew's 14 game-high tallies, followed by Darcy
Schmeling with 12 and Stacie Schorach, who had 10 points and
eight rebounds.
