"Blue" Squad Holds Off "Gold" Team 91-89
in Dakota State Senior All-Star Game


     The "Blue" squad held off a furious finish by the "Gold" team to win 91-89 in Dakota State University's fourth annual Senior All-Star game played in Madison, South Dakota.  The "Blue" team led 41-50 at halftime and had a lead as large as 12 points.  A three-point field goal by Sara Jensen of the  "Gold" team tied the score at 89 with 18 seconds remaining.  The "Blue" team got their final points from the freethrow line as Melanie Villmow hit two freethrows with six seconds remaining.  A final shot by the "Gold" squad came up short and the "Blue" team walked away with the win.

     Billie Evans was named the "Blue" team MVP while Sara Jensen was tabbed MVP for the "Gold" team.  Evans, a 5-8 forward from Dell Rapids, scored 19 points and hit key buckets to hold the lead for her team.  Sara Jensen, a 5-5 guard for Waverly/South Shore, had 25 points for her "Gold" team including five three-point field goals.

     Sixteen South Dakota athletes competed in the annual Senior All-Star game from various Class "A" and Class "B" schools throughout eastern 
South Dakota.
