Jeff Dittman's NAIA Division II Lady T's (4-2) came away from Grand Forks, N.D., Tuesday with an 86-44 loss to NCAA Division II University of North Dakota. "We played 30 minutes of excellent basketball last night," said Dittman of his Dakota State University team. "Unfortunately, with a team like UND, they can make a big run in the two five-minute lapses we had." Jessica and Heidi Honermann netted almost half of Dakota State's 44 points, having respective 11-and 10-point outings. The Lady T's also got eight counters from Jennie Sonne and six from Hali McClelland.
According to Dittman, it was the Lady T's two-edged sword first-half play which figured in the game's outcome. The Lady T's were behind by just 15 points at halftime. "I was pleased with our defense the first half," said Dittman. "We held UND to 38 points and 41-percent shooting while causing 12 turnovers. We also outrebounded them for the game (42-41), which is exceptional." Jessica Honermann came away with 10 rebounds, while Sonne had seven and Heidi Honermann, Kathy Shypulski and Erin Nielsen each had four. "Unfortunately, we had to expend a lot of energy in the first half and we just ran out of energy in the second half," concluded Dittman. The victors got 19 points apiece from Teresa LeCuyer and Mandy Arndtson, followed by 13 by Jenny Boll and 10 from Jenny Hoffner.
