Jeff Dittman's Dakota State University Lady Trojans ran their Dakota-10 Conference record to 4-0 Friday, handing 14th ranked Minot State a 71-60 loss in Minot, N.D., only to have Dickinson State end DSU's perfect lood season Saturday, defeating the Lady T's 61-48.

Dittman's Lady T's, now 10-3 overall and 4-1 in the conference loop, get almost a two-week rest before entering play Dec. 29 at the Mitchell Corn Palace against Mount Marty College in the DWU Teammakers Tournament.

DSU put together a come-from-behind first-half effort to know Minot State 31-31 at halftime and then staged a 40-29 second-half performance to nail down the victory.

"We got out of the gat a little slow," said Dittman.  "Trailing 21-9 with 13 minutes remaining in the first half, we switched to our mand defense, which helped our intensity at both ends of the court.  A big key for us in this game was the offensive boards.  The 17 offensive rebounds gave us a number of second-chance opportunities which we were able to convert.  We also got to the free throw line more than Minot and shot 70 percent from the line."

DSU got 22 team-top points from Jennie Sonne, which was huge for DSU, according to Dittman.  "Jennie was very dominant inside for us, hitting nine of her 11 shots and grabbing a team-high eight rebounds."

Kathy Shypulski also added 13 counters, Jessica Honermann 12 and Hali McClelland 11.

Minot State got 22 points from Jaime Lamoureux.  Kayla Blom also had 18 counters and Lyndel Johnson eight.  Blom also had seven rebounds for the Lady Beavers.

The Lady T's jumped off to a 9-2 start only to have Dickinson State come back on them and fashion a five-point, 30-25, halftime lead.

In the games final 20 minutes, the Blue Hawks outscored DSU 31-25 to nail down the win.

We were able to cut Dickinson's lead to five by halftime and get ourselves back into the game,"said Dittman.  "We started the second half with a scoring drought that netted us just two points in the first nine minutes of play.  By that time, Dickinson had built a 20-point lead that we cut to nine with 2:30 left in the game, but we couldn't get any closer."

DSU got 22 points from Shypulski to pace the Lady T's offense.  Amy Balk was DSU's next-highest scorer as she netted seven points.

"Aside from Kathy's 22 points, we weren't able to generate anything, and that's not typical of us," concluded Dittman.  "Usually we have three or four players scoring 10-15 points a game."

Dickinson State got 14 team-top tallies from Stacie Schorach, followed by a pair of 12-point displays from Darcy Schmeling and Nikki Schorach.
