Lady T's Lose to Jamestown, Beat Mary

     With their lopsided 100-72 win over the University of Mary in Bismarck (N.D.) Saturday, Jeff Dittman's Dakota State University Lady Trojans gained a split in weekend DAC-10 Conference women's basketball action in North Dakota.  

     On Friday, DSU suffered a 62-55 setback to Jamestown College at Jamestown.

     Paced by Kathy Shypulski's stellar 32-point scoring show, DSU got double-figure scoring from four different players, including Jessica Honermann, Jennie Sonne and Heidi Honermann.

     Jessica Honermann put in 16 points, Sonne 14 and Heidi Honermann 11 as the Lady T's shot a hot 35-of-52 for the game -- featuring 11 three-pointers which included eight by Shypulski.

     At the charity stripe, DSU went 19-28 and had 26 rebounds, which included five apiece by Jessica Honermann and Sonne.

     Mary, which went 25-56 from the field and 19-25 at the free throw line, got 17 points from Sarah Leer, 15 more by Shayley Bebee and 10 from Jessie Slinde.  Bebee also had seven rebounds for Mary, which claimed 21 rebounds.

     On Friday, DSU couldn't get by Jamestown despite a 21-point scoring display from Shypulski.  Hers was the Lady T's only double-figure scoring performance.  Erin Nielsen had nine points, while Sonne and Amy Balk each had six.

     The Lady T's shot just 21-55 from the field and 7-11 at the free throw line, while claiming 30 rebounds.  Nielsen and Sonne each had seven caroms for the Lady T's.

     Jamestown got balanced scoring from Keri Bakker, Jesse Peterson and Sarah McLean, who had respective 16-, 13- and 11-point games.  Jamestown went 24-45 in field goals, 6-12 in free throws and had 31 rebounds, nine coming from Jamie Hughes.

     DSU now awaits this weekend's games against Dickinson State University (Friday) and Minot State University (Saturday) at the DSU Fieldhouse.
