The past met the present in Madison Saturday evening in one of the most competitive Alumni Games in recent history. While the final score recorded a twenty-point win for the current Lady T's, 82-62, the game was a much closer contest. The game started with a quick run by the Lady T's that saw DSU jump out to a double-digit lead. The Lady T's were able to use every player in the first half and maintain that lead, going into the locker room at halftime with a 41-30 lead. But, the second half was a different story. The Alumni continued to battle back and got as close as 61-56 before DSU made their final run in the last few minutes. The Alumni Game was the third game of the day for the Lady T's and it began to show as the Alumni continually pushed the tempo of the game. The Alumni also used their size and strength to score inside. Former post duo Dawn Gaffney and Sheila Haack gave a few lessons inside to the Lady T's young front line while the screening and scoring combination of Krista Peterson and Kazzi Foster caused continuous problems during the Alumni second-half run. Leading the efforts for the Lady T's was Kathy Shypulski with 15 points. Heidi Honermann and Jessica Honermann each pitched in with 13 points while Erin Nielsen led the rebounding effort with 7. Leading the scoring for the Alumni was Kazzi Foster with 14 points. Sheila Haack added 13 while Dawn Gaffney pitched in 11 for the senior squad. Following the game, the 1999-00 squad that recorded a 25-8 record and advanced to the "Elite Eight" round of the NAIA National Tournament unveiled the newest banner to go into the DSU Fieldhouse rafters. It was a happy moment with the reunion of the squad and the presentation of the newest banner in Lady T history.
