"A" All-Stars Come-From-Behind

With a roster as deep in talent as these two squads had, it was no surprise to fans of South Dakota girl's basketball that the Dakota State University All-Star game was a shootout. And the game lived up to its billing. In a furious second-half comeback, the Class "A" All-Stars rallied to beat the Class "B" All-Stars in the 2000 All-Star game played in Madison, S.D. After trailing 44-28 with seven minutes remaining in the first-half, the Class "A" squad began a slow comeback that eventually led to a 94-93 victory. The Class "A" All-Stars were led by Parkston's Amber Power with 17 points, followed closely by Clark standout Shannon Schlagel with 15. For the Class "B" All-Stars, Frederick-Hecla's Michelle Bruns led all scorers with 21 points, with Alcester-Hudson's Rebecca Schreur chipping in another 14.
