The 2007 Dakota State University Senior All-Star Game was
another close contest. The eighth annual
All-Star game was won by the Blue squad 70-68.
IN the first half of play,
there were six different lead changes and the score was tied on five
different occasions. At the halfway mark, the Blue Squad
led by a narrow 37-36
margin.
The second half was just as
close as the two teams continued to exchange baskets,
tying the score five times. With 48 seconds left in
the game, Gold player Sara Puthoff sunk a 3 pointer
to tie the score at 68.
Carmyn Streitz hit a 2 point
basket to put the Blue squad up by two
with 24 seconds left in the game. The Gold
squad pushed the ball down the court
and forward Katelynn Lamb
put up the go-ahead 3 point
shot. However, the Blue team’s
Erica Nord made the defensive play of the game by
blocking the shot. Abby Mehlbrech of the
Blue team grabbed the rebound and
made a quick outlet pass to Carmyn Streitz
where she was fouled and sent to the free throw line.
Her miss gave the Gold squad one last
chance to tie or win the game. With less than three
seconds left in the game, the Blue team’s
defense came up big one last time. Lamb
was forced to take a difficult shot
that was wide left and allowed the Blue team to walk
away with the 70-68 victory.
Three players reached double-digit scoring for
the Blue squad, led by Stacy Mueller’s 19 points and 8 rebounds.
Next was Carmyn Streitz
with 11 points and 8 rebounds and Kaitlyn Kramer
added 10 points.
For the Gold Team, four players were able to
break the double-digit scoring
mark. Katelynn Lamb of Sully Buttes led the team with 22
points followed by Sara Puthoff, Marli Thurow,
and Alyssa Fischbach with 12, 11 and 10
points respectively. Fischbach also
pulled down a team-high nine boards.
The Lady T’s basketball program would like to thank all of the
athletes and their families for joining us for another great Senior
All-Star game.
