The Dakota Athletic Conference

The DAC-10 Conference began with six members of the North Dakota Collegiate Athletic Conference; Dickinson State, Jamestown College, Mayville State, Minot State, the University of Mary and Valley City State; and four members of the South Dakota-Iowa Conference; Black Hills State, Dakota State, Huron University and the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. The conference began competition in the fall of 2000.

At the end of the 2004-05 season, the University of Mary left the conference to join the Northern Sun Conference, an NCAA DII affiliate.  Additionally, Si-Tanka Huron University closed its doors due to financial problems.

In the fall of 2005, the DAC-10 conference changed its name to the Dakota Athletic Conference (DAC) and began the year with the remaining eight member institutions.  The league has discussed a number of options to increase it's membership but, to date, no change has been implemented.

The Dakota Athletic Conference offer championships in Cross Country, Basketball, Track, Football, Volleyball, Baseball, Softball, Golf, and Tennis. The league winner of the DAC conference and the Conference Play-off champion advance to the NAIA Division II National Basketball Tournament.
