LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

Dr. Douglas Knowlton
President, Dakota State University

In the last few years, Dakota State University has gained significant attention and recognition for its advanced and innovative academic programs. We strongly believe that DSU provides students the opportunity to “get on the edge and stay there”--an edge that will help them be successful in whatever field they might choose.

Dakota State, having a proud athletic history, will continue to pursue excellence in athletics as well. That is why I am particularly pleased with the talent, dedication, and sportsmanship displayed by our student athletes. The Dakota State experience is one of shared achievements and victories for not only the individual and the institution, but also for a very supportive community.

Dakota State continues to grow and expand its horizons. I would encourage you to take full advantage of all the academic and social growth opportunities this university offers you. The pursuit of a college education is one of the most challenging ventures you will face in your life, and it can be just as rewarding. You will find completion of your degree to pay not only dividends in career opportunities but in your ability to meet the personal challenges of life.

An excellent placement rate of over 90% is a testimony to Dakota State's diligent efforts at preparing students to meet the challenges of 21st Century careers.   To support our leading-edge curriculum, an exceptional computer environment is found at Dakota State. The campus has a totally wireless environment.  The campus is committed to making the latest computer hardware and software available to its students and every student is issued a tablet computer to facilitate their learning.

Our athletes are particularly excited about the new Community Center facility and the new enhancements to our athletic facilities.  New scoreboard message centers and video displays have made our facilities an exciting place to compete.

It has long been touted that a college education is what you make of it, and I encourage you to use this time at Dakota State to challenge yourself to excellence while enjoying the many facets of the university experience. Dakota State University exists because you will make a decision to let us help you prepare for the next phase of your life. We are excited about you coming here and wish you the best success at Dakota State.

I hope that you will take a long, hard look at our Women's Basketball Program and our university. I also hope that you will become a part of another championship basketball team next season and part of the future growth at Dakota State University.
