DSU to Induct Four Athletes,
'84 Lady T's Basketball Team in Hall of Fame

Lynne Warwick, Kevin Berg, Adam Clark, and Tom Schlimgen proved themselves in athletics here at Dakota State University, and the 1983-84 Lady T's had a standout season for themselves.

Dakota State's Athletic Hall of Fame selection committee felt that their achievements were worthy enough to be named as the Class of 2005.  They will receive their plaques at the DSU Hall of Fame Banquet on Friday at Camp Lakodia on Lake Herman at 7:30 p.m.   Friday's Hall of Fame festivities begin with a 5:30 p.m. social hour followed by the banquet at 6:30 p.m.

Lynne Warwick

Lynne Warwick etched her name into Dakota State College athletic history as a basketball, softball and volleyball player and as a trackster in the 1981-84 era.

In volleyball, she was the Lady Trojans' captain in 1983, the same year she was named an All-SDIC player.  Playing softball for DSC, she was an all-conference player three years (1981, 1983 and 1984).

Warwick, as a discus thrower, was named as the school's most valuable field performer in 1981 and both the SDIC and AIAW's Div. III champion discus thrower in 1982.

Warwick's family includes her parents, Ardis and Terence.  She has a sister Nancy and brothers Jon and Bill.  She currently works as the Youth Enrichment Services Inc. administrator in Sioux Falls.

1983-84 Lady T's

The 1983-84 Lady T's basketball squad become the fourth team to enter the Hall of Fame as a team.  These Lady T's produced a 20-3 overall record, which included a 13-1 SDIC mark that gave the Lady T's their fifth consecutive loop championship.

They also enabled Dakota State to extend a conference regular-season consecutive win streak to 35 games, lasting over four seasons, before dropping a 69-67 verdict to Dakota Wesleyan.

Before losing to Jamestown College in the District 12 playoffs, these Lady T's went on an 11-0 winning streak of their own.  Of special note, every player who played four years on this squad was a part of four conference championships.

Monica (Matthies) Severson earned both All-SDIC and honorable-mention All-American honors, along with being named the conference's most valuable players.

Julie (Fiegen) Price, in addition to Severson, was named an All-SDIC first-team member, and Carol Freeman and Janelle Schaefer were named to the second team.

Members of that elite team include Lorna Harvey, Roxy Shabram, Carol Freeman, Jan Boeker, Julie Fiegen, Monique Nelson, Beth Nielsen, Monica Matthies, Robin Embrock, Janelle Schaefer, Marcia Kistler, Johanna Reil, Julie Michel, Robin Hagen, Cella Hermsen, and Julie Heinz.  The squad was led by assistant coach Nancy Neiber and head coach Judy Dittman.
